Part 8 – Never Ever Give Up | Our Roadmap to Renovating Full-Time.

Why do some renovators give up?

The noise, which is usually negative, sounds a bit like being told it's too hard, the market is too competitive, you can't do it on your own. Some renovators give up if they can't borrow money or refinance; others become too drained and can't expend any more of their time and effort.

Banks may be quick to say no to your loan, but there are so many alternative lenders out there willing to understand your position as a renovator and assist you into the next deal.

The easy way is to pack it in early as we are hard-wired to give up too soon.

In the beginning, when the process of renovating isn't as smooth. or familiar, we may not be aware of how we can conserve our energy.

Focus is probably one of the essential internal drivers that keep people involved in renovating. When you lose focus, you usually forget your ‘why' you are doing this. It could be for financial security or early retirement. Remembering who you are renovating for can keep you focused. You may want to set yourself or your children up for a more financially secure future.

A loss of focus usually leads to a period of inactivity.

One way to plug back into the potential you started with is to reconnect and engage with your renovation community. It can be easy to lose confidence in yourself or the market, so sharing your journey with others can realign you with your mission again.

Renovating on your own can sometimes create unnecessary doubt in your mind that could lead to bad decisions and self-sabotage.

Communicating with others that share a similar journey to yours can give you encouragement and perspective, especially if you have felt isolated or overwhelmed.

Like-minded renovators can help you silence the noise and prompt you to ask – who is in your ear? It's vital to tune out the well-meaning but inexperienced comments from friends at the barbeque or the negativity from the news, giving you constant signs to quit or stay away from a renovation or investing altogether.

Remember that your group of people can amplify your situation. Choose to be around people who lift you and light you up, and support you when you need it.

Renovation is an equal opportunity pathway for men and women alike. Anyone with that steadfast commitment can get it to happen.
