We love featuring renovated homes on the blog, it is always a sense of inspiration for our next real reno and a great way to get inspiration from all over the world. When we came across this Californian coastal, renovated home on My Domaine, we had to share!
The interiors of this Californian home have been beautifully renovated by Ausland Interiors , turning this once dated home into a coastal sanctuary. Principal designer Ashley Ausland explains how the renovation was carried out:
“A few previous renovations had been done in the ’80s,” she said. “All the rooms were dated (not in a cute way) and segregated from each other. So we took the walls down, relocated the kitchen near the backyard, and created a large open living area for the young family of five to hang out.”
This beautiful family home feels fresh and calm and the styling gives off a refined coastal vibe. The use of white against the wood floors and the pops of blue and natural hues gives the space such a relaxed vibe. The kitchen really looks like the heart of the home and a gathering place for the whole family, as mentioned by Ashley Ausland above, the living area is open plan and inviting for a large family.
The white and neutral pallette is given warmth by the use of the deep blues and tan colours and also by the textures in each room. The layered jute and kilim rugs give the home texture and the styling, including natural material and indoor plants give the interiors life. See more of our home of the week below.
